The 11th incarnation of the AABA Golf Outing on September 18th, 2017 was an event for the record books. No threatening hurricane could dampen the spirits of the more than 60 golfers and the many volunteers and supporters who participated in this very worthwhile event held at the beautiful Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton, MA.
The golf foursome of Sam Haddad, Charles Beshwaty, Marty Devaney and Dan Jenkins of the RAYCON Construction, LLC took home the low score championship trophy with a stunning 16 under par 56. Second place went to the foursome headed by Eric Emory with a score of 10 under par 62. A three way tie at second place was broken by a birdie on the 15th by the Emory team.
After a full day of golf with many challenging holes, games with cash prizes and the chance to win a new car, graciously sponsored by Diamond Chevrolet, our golfers, volunteers and supporters were treated to a lovely Mazza presentation during the cocktail hour, beautifully prepared by Board Member and Restauranteur, Maurice Daaboul, owner of Byblos Restaurant in Norwood, MA. His team then served a delicious dinner buffet of hummus, salad, grilled beef and chicken, hushwee rice with grilled vegetables and ending with baklava, brownies and cookies. During dinner, 33 raffle prizes were given out, starting with two $250.00 Amazon gift cards. The other raffle prizes consisted of Celtics and Revolution tickets, New Balance custom shoes gift cards, Golf foursomes, HP printer and many more wonderful gift cards to restaurants and retailers in the area. There was also a very large poster board filled with various Mass. State Lottery tickets that was also a very big hit and a hoped for prize. Thank you to all who donated and congratulations to all our winners!
But the real winners will be those who benefit from AABA’s charitable endeavors: our seniors, needy families, and college-bound students, among others. The proceeds from this year’s tournament will be invested in the ongoing enhancement of AABA’s programs. This year our golf outing raised nearly $37,000 thanks to the generosity of our 2017 Benefactor, The Salah Foundation, who sponsored this event in honor of Olivia Waishek. Olivia Waishek herself, who along with David Franciosi, Darya Gamel, Richard Laham and William Seaver co-chaired this golf outing and to the many Golfers, Corporate and Personal Sponsors, Gold and Silver Sponsors, Hole Sign Donors, Patrons and Volunteers who donated their time and resources to make this AABA Golf Outing the wonderful success it was. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Please visit the AABA Facebook page to see all the photos taken by fellow golfer and Board Member Steve Salhaney and to see how you can join us for our 2018 AABA Golf Outing. We look forward to seeing you.
